Grail Insights’ Melissa Bane Shares Perspective on Consumer Privacy in the Age of IoT at IMPACT 2020, London.

By Grail Insights Newsroom | February 28, 2020

Grail Insights’ Managing Director Melissa Bane will be a featured panelist at the MRS Impact 2020 conference March 10-11, in London. The panel, titled “Privacy and Pervasiveness:How the IoT Changes the Game for Data,” will address the many issues raised by the Internet of Things including consumer attitudes, privacy concerns, regulatory frameworks and its impact on market research. “Grail’s proprietary research shows consumers are very concerned about internet-enabled home devices and appliances,” says Bane. “And at the same time, they are still sharing more personal information with devices than ever before. What does this mean for privacy going forward?”

Research conducted by Grail shows that fewer than a quarter of US and UK consumers trust the companies that make internet-enabled devices to keep their data secure. And nearly three-quarters think their devices could be hacked or used to spy on them. As a panelist, Bane will elaborate on the implications of these findings for companies and their customers.
