Power BI Associate Consultant - Job Description

As a Power BI Consultant, you will be working on client specific Business Intelligence and Data Reporting projects and will be expected to:
  • Understand the client’s data architecture and use different technical skills and variety of tools to generate actionable insights from a variety of client data sources.
  • Solve business problems while working with structured as well as unstructured data
  • Deal with ambiguity yet provide a structured approach to resolve client’s business issues


  • Graduate with an engineering degree (preferably Computer Science) or a degree in statistics/ math with experience in coding or equivalent
  • Post Graduate with analytical pedigree (preferably Operations Research, Econometrics or MBA equivalent with analytical electives)
  • 2-7 years of relevant experience in Data Analytics or Business Intelligence. Knowledge of at least on domain (such as Retail, Sales and Operational Analytics) is required
  • Certification in Data Science coursework from internationally recognized platforms will be a plus
  • Performance metrics in Kaggle and Analytics Vidhya Data Science competitions will be a plus

Role and Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Making significant contributions to the design of the analytical approaches and work plans
  • Being responsible for smooth project operations – overall project quality

Client Interaction and Management

  • Understand the client objective and support delivery leads in managing client expectations on projects along with the Account Manager
  • Work with project manager and client to scope and deliver on projects
  • As part of a larger team, align requirements on different work streams and tasks assigned by the client
  • Support in client calls wherever required

Other Initiatives

  • Participate in organization-improvement initiatives and activities such as knowledge management
  • Conduct skill-based internal training sessions
  • Help the organization in scaling up by actively participating in recruitment drives at the office premises or on campus
Consultant Power BI

Key Skills:

  • Visualization Tools: Advanced level of Power BI is a must. Should have working knowledge of other commonly used BI tools such as Tableau
  • Knowledge of Descriptive and Predictive Analytics
  • Knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts, query optimization and workflow creation
  • Hands-on experience with statistical languages (R, Python, SQL etc.) to transform data and draw insights from large data sets
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, clustering, Forecasting, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.)
  • Experience on creating and working with data architectures
  • Data munging: able to work across different structured and unstructured data sources
  • Working knowledge of Relational Databases
  • Excellent client presence and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proficiency with MS PowerPoint and MS Excel
  • Hands-on experience of Big Data Platforms: Cloudera, Hortonworks, MapR
  • Knowledge of Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, SQL Server, MySQL, etc.

Must haves:

  • Advanced Power BI, Power BI Query (M-based), DAX, Advanced Excel, SQL
  • Ability to work with Relational and Cloud Databases
  • Knowledge of Data Workflows/ API integration with BI Tools and Database Systems

Good to have:

    • Multi-purpose Tools: Databricks, Micro-strategy
    • Integration Tools: Tableau Prep, Knime, Alteryx
    • Cloud Environment: Azure, AWS and gCloud
